Kim Lawson, Owner
Kim is the owner of Fishpaws Marketplace and is responsible for all the day-to-day
operations of the business. She practically cut her eyeteeth on the liquor and wine
industry. (Her father has been in the business for over 40 years). Kim grew up
experiencing her family’s European attitude towards wine; that wine is a beverage to be
consumed with food, an adjunct and a complement to any meal. During her 20 years at
Fishpaws, Kim has traveled throughout the wine regions of California, and the East
Coast and attended Vin Expo in Bordeaux. She has attended many classes and
seminars on wine and has educated and refined her palate with extensive tasting of all
types of wines from all over the world. Kim has even taught a class on wine at a local
college. Kim is a principal member of Fishpaws wine tasting team (all wines are tasted
before being selected for Fishpaws inventory), but her personal passion is customer
service and special orders. Kim is dedicated to having the best customer service
possible. If you are looking for a wine that you can’t find in our catalogue, she will do her
best to find it for you. At Fishpaws, special orders aren’t special, they are part of the
finest customer service.
It is no wonder that Kim was selected as Retailer of The Year by The National
Association of Beverage Retailers.
Chris Lawson, Owner
Chris is a partner at Fishpaws and is the author of our monthly newsletter. She has
traveled extensively in the wine regions of France, Spain and California. Chris has
attended many classes on wine, is a member of Fishpaws tasting panel and has
participated in teaching a class at a local college. She is a founding member of a wine
tasting club and has arranged trips and private tours of wineries for customers. Chris
also coordinates and helps host our bi-monthly wine dinners with local restaurants. She
believes there is nothing better than good wines, good food and good friends
Kurt Clodfelter, Fine Wine Manager
As a lifelong Maryland resident Kurt has always been on a quest for flavor. After
graduating from Old Mill Senior High, Kurt traveled to Hyde Park, New York were he
studied at the Culinary Institute of America. Upon completion of his degree in Culinary
Arts, Kurt couldn’t wait to get home to Maryland where he began sharing his new found
knowledge with the dinning public while helping to open or re-open 9 different
restaurants across the state. Kurt joined the Fishpaws team in 2006 and while fulfilling
his duties here has also lectured at the Community College, conducted private wine
tasting parties, created the Desperate Housewines Club here at the store, received his
certification as a Wine Specialist, and has also accepted a position as a wine and food
writer for a magazine in Baltimore. Kurt and his wife have purchased their first home in
Glen Burnie and he looks forward to many more years of helping you find the right wine
for the right meal, at the right price! Next time you are looking for that hard to find bottle
stop in and talk to Kurt!
Angela DiCenzo-Liquor Manager
Next time you are looking for that hard to find bottle of goodness make sure to track
down our Liquor Manager Angela. As a young woman Angela worked as everything from
a runway model to a Pit Boss for a casino. Her favorite memories however were of her
time in the restaurant industry where she acted as a server, bartender, and bar manager
all over the country. Locally Angela served as the bar manager for Clark’s Saloon right
here in Severna Park for 7 years before she headed over to Carroll’s Creek in Eastport
where she served as their beverage manager for 13 years. Angela and her husband of
22 years are avid sailors but when they aren’t out to sea Angela can commonly be found
tending her garden or enjoying a dirty martini. As the Liquor Manager for Fishpaws it
falls to Angela to keep the shelves well stocked with all your favorites and to seek out all
the new products you don’t even know you love yet. “The beverage industry has always
felt like home to me”, says Angela, and we encourage all of you to stop by and say,
“Welcome Home” the next time you are in the area.
